Castleton's anciet Garland Day is a unique, historic and wonerful event that takes place every year on May 29th (Unless it falls on a Sunday, then it is hels on Saturday 28th). the Garland procession winds its way through the village finally reaching the Market Place. Local children do Maypole Dancing while the Garland is taken to the Church where it is hauled up and mounted on one of the pinnacles on the tower of St Edmonds.
The cash machine access is very poor so make sure you bring enough money for food and drink and shopping.

Corvinus (+1 guest)“ It was good but the turn out could have been better, transport was a problem being out in the sticks , it was also mid week and many people had to work. But it does only happen once a year, having said that there was lots of beer and we had pub grub followed by fish and chips. ” -
